During the past week, the Silhouettes team & I visited the Queens & Washington DC locations of Dress for Success to meet with their Professional Women's Group (PWG).  The PWG offers women served by Dress for Success a supportive and educational environment for women looking to achieve personal & professional success. In order to assist the women in expanding their employment horizons, I presented at the kickoff meeting for the upcoming Silhouettes for Success program (more on that soon!).  I introduced the attendees to the many opportunities for advancement social networks can provide. We covered Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and LinkedIn, as well as how authoring a blog can lead to creative & editorial opportunities.

What I enjoyed most about meeting the women of the PWG was the air of support & community they have created.  They share their successes as well as their failures & the key learnings along the way. They are unafraid to talk of the hard times because they know that through their own perseverance, the hard times will fade into the distance. Everyone encounters difficult periods, but life's experiences are shaped by the way you handle them.
