Do you know what a “kurta” is? I had no idea until very recently, when I saw what looked like a loose tunic top referred to as a kurta.
So, of course I hit up Wikipedia, and they say: “A kurta is a traditional item of clothing worn in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. It is a loose shirt falling either just above or somewhere below the knees of the wearer….”
Well, there you go. Never say this blog isn’t educational!
This kurta has been adapted a little bit for American fashion, and it’s great. Really loose and comfortable, with its own belt for instant shape. And don’t forget the fun bold print. Just pair it with leggings or slim-fitting jeans and presto! You’ve got a great new look—and you can tell your friends just what a kurta is!
