I am all about great fashion and checking out celebrity style…but sometimes even the stars fail miserably (as do we all). Here are some celebrity fashion fails that I’ve found recently:
My friend said that in this pic, Rihanna looks like a muppet. The green feathery top is completely wrong on so many levels. Ugly and unflattering. She looks pregnant, and she’s not. Plus the matchy green top and pants are just too much.
Well, Kim Kardashian chose an interesting ensemble to wear to the launch of her new fragrance. Purple and orange? GAH. But that’s not the worst of it. Everything seems to fit poorly, the top is unflattering.... I believe that this is what’s known as a hot mess.
And here is celebrity Charlotte Ross at the recent premiere of the movie “A Good Old Fashioned Orgy.” Good lord, what was she thinking? Crazy pattern? Yep. Fringe? Yep. This dress has all the elements of a major fail.
Seen any good fashion fails lately?
She’s got a hot song, a best-selling album and she is only 22 years old! Not to mention that fabulous voice. So how does Adele choose to dress herself for those nights out?
Here she is at the 2009 Grammy’s in all-black dress with a hot green coat:
And here at the 2009 VH1 Diva Awards. This style is fabulous on her, and the gold embroidery embellishments are amazing.
And here at the 2011 Brit Awards, again in black. As usual, this dress looks good, but it would be nice to see a pop of color in her wardrobe sometimes. Bring back the green coat!
Olivia Wilde is the female lead in Cowboys and Aliens (the latest summer blockbuster) and an up-and-coming actress who’s starred in various TV shows and movies. I thought I’d look at some of her style choices, since she’s not a name I recognize right away.
Here she is in Stella McCartney. This design and style of this gown is flattering and draws the eyes to all the right places.
Here she is at the 2009 Golden Globes…I’m a sucker for this kind of dress, and the lavender is a great choice:
And here she is in a silver dress at the launch of a new fragrance. Not such a big fan of the style here. It feels haphazard and unflattering.
Olivia Wilde fans: what do you think of her fashion choices?
Yet another comic book movie, and another (probable) summer blockbuster just opened—The Green Lantern. Ryan Reynolds plays the superhero and Blake Lively plays his love interest.
I really liked Blake’s dress choice at the premiere. White is a great summer color, and the flowers and the style are sexy and fun. She also accessorized it beautifully.
Since she looked so awesome here, I decided to investigate some of her other fashion choices…
First, a very bad choice. Really, what was she thinking?! The hair? And the color? GAH.
But she redeemed herself back in April with this fantastic seafoam dress, a new hair color, and just all around classy appeal.
And now, for all of you who are into it, a bonus shot of Ryan Reynolds in his chic suit at the Green Lantern premiere.
Amy Adams is a Hollywood movie star who’s been in everything from indie films (Junebug) to Disney princess movies (Enchanted). She likes mixing it up on the red carpet (and out on the town), but usually picks classic—and classy—dresses that look great with her red hair and fair skin.
At the Golden Globes a few months ago, she took advantage of the one-shoulder craze to wear this awesome teal gown with scalloped accents. I don’t know if I love the left-hip ruffles, but the rest of it is style-perfect.
Here she is at an awards show in 2009:
I love this dress, too, although if you don’t ever like ruffles, the front isn’t going to do much for you. Still, the color is stunning (I’m a sucker for purple) and she looks great in it.
And finally, this year’s Academy Awards. Her blue dress was absolutely classic and, as Slate magazine put it, very reminiscent of old-time Hollywood star Lauren Bacall.
Check out the jewelry she’s wearing too—it sparkles nearly as much as her dress and adds a fun green addition Oh, yeah, and it was $1.35 MILLION WORTH of bling!
The 2011 Academy Awards was last weekend, and wow! So many sophisticated and awesome styles to check out. (And some trainwrecks, too, but that’s part of the fun).
First, the good. Scarlett Johanssen rocked a Dolce & Gabbana lace dress in a super magenta color. I love this. What I didn’t love was her hair, which, by the time she presented, looked like she’d gotten out of the pool and hadn’t bothered to shower afterward.
And Anne Hathaway, as the new host, looked stunning in almost all her dresses (and really seemed to be having fun). Her blueberry-colored “fruit roll up” dress--toward the end of the evening--was really amazing.
Sandra Bullock also carried off a red dress, and, super-cute bonus, said she wore it because her little son likes red!
Now, the trainwrecks. You can usually count on Helena Bonham-Carter to bring the weirdness. Oscar night was no exception. While it wasn’t a Golden Globe-level fiasco, this messy conglomeration of gloves and corset was kind of goth and very blech.
Any thoughts on your favorite red carpet styles?
