I know that when people think “flannel” they often think “lumberjack” or “grunge singer from the early 90s” …but in reality, this super soft and warm fabric is perfect for winter.
Fortunately there are ways to incorporate flannel shirts into your wardrobe in ways that don’t make you look like a grungy dude—or like you’re wearing pajamas.

One example is this flannel shirt. The ruffle trim and back shirring give it a feminine style—but of course it’s got all the sweet qualities of flannel. And it’s incredibly comfortable, too.

Another option is the flannel big shirt, which is perfect for days where you just want to wear something cozy. Still feminine—and big enough to wear over a more fitted t-shirt.

Shirts aren’t the only way to work flannel into your wardrobe. These twill pants are also soft flannel—but you would never guess by looking at them!
Sometimes you just want to wear something that looks different—something unique, that doesn’t look like everyone else. It’s fun to make a statement or to start a conversation about something you’re wearing.

- Try a unique style. Something like this tuxedo blouse, while it comes in subdued colors, is a different cut and style than many blouses. It’s sheer, so you can pair it with a cami (if you don’t, you’ll REALLY make a statement!) and trousers. Different styles like this always get attention.

- Reverse the expectation. Most people wear printed tops with solid bottoms, but why not change things a bit and wear print pants and a solid top? These floral pants are one way you can mix it up. Another option is this tie-dyed skirt. The delicate bands of color make it a standout.

- Bling it up. I’ve already blogged about this tunic and this sequined vest, both of which add some shine to your wardrobe. You can also add bling by adding jewelry, like this abalone disk set or a fascinating pendant.
